Which Kindle Do I Have?

Check your Kindle’s own settings

The most reliable way to identify your Kindle is on the device itself. Open Settings, then Device Options, then Device Info. That screen shows your model name and serial number, which is enough to match against the comparisons below.

Compare by screen size

CoverLock currently supports five Kindle families, spanning four screen sizes:

6 inches: the entry-level Kindle, older Paperwhite generations, and the 8th generation Oasis.
6.8 inches: the 11th generation Paperwhite.
7 inches: the current 12th generation Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature Edition, Kindle Colorsoft, and the 9th and 10th generation Oasis.
10.2 inches: Kindle Scribe, by far the largest screen in the lineup.

Compare by physical design

Kindle (Basic): the smallest, simplest body in the lineup. No physical page-turn buttons.
Paperwhite: the standard modern Kindle shape, with a flush front and even bezels on every generation.
Oasis: recognizable by its uneven bezel. One edge is noticeably thicker than the rest, built to hold physical page-turn buttons.
Scribe: much larger and more tablet-like than any other Kindle, with a magnetic dock along one edge for its included pen.
Colorsoft: shares the Paperwhite’s modern body, but its screen shows color instead of pure grayscale.

Where do I find my Kindle’s model number?

On most Kindles, open Settings, then Device Options, then Device Info. Your model name and serial number are listed there.

Does the model number tell me the exact resolution I need?
